Stroller Safari

(Ages 10 months-2 years with an adult)
This class is for adults with infants and/or toddlers who want to learn more about the zoo and its residents! Enjoy a stroll through Happy Hollow to view different animals each week and meet an animal up close. Learn how we make animal exhibits engaging for young children and stay after class for informal play time to get to know other zoo families. This class meets for three sessions. Please respect age restrictions and do not bring older siblings to class. Class fee is for 1 child and 1 adult. Each additional participant requires an additional fee.

Learn why animals do what they do and why they are so good at doing it! We’ll discover these animals’ hunting habits, social behavior, how they move and more.

Zooper Kids

(Ages 3-4 and 4-5)
A wonderful way for your child to explore the world of animals in a safe, friendly environment. Each class includes interactive lessons on the topic, hands-on activities, crafts, and meeting animals. Topics for Zooper Kids are designed as a three-part series. Children must be potty trained and comfortable attending class unaccompanied.
 

Wild Wardrobes

What do animals wear? Discover how animals use different body coverings to keep cool or warm, or even protected, or hidden! Learn the differences between fur, feathers, hair, scales and shells and all the ways animals use their Wild Wardrobes!

Jr. Keepers

Does raking, scooping, feeding, enriching, and caring for exotic animals sound interesting to you? Then join the zoo crew! Learn a variety of zookeeping skills and help Happy Hollow’s zookeepers take care of our zoo animals. Jr. Keepers will explore different aspects of zoo keeping throughout the year. 
 

Animal Diets

Wild animals have specialized diets, and just because they live at the zoo doesn’t mean that it changes. Join us to learn what our animals eat and how the zoo makes sure they stay healthy. Prepare some animal meals and feed some of the zoo’s animals.

Animal families are called by many names. Join the pack and discover that animal families can be large or small, how they get along, where they live and how they work together as a family.

Bird Watching at the Hollow
 

(Ages 5+ with an adult)
Happy Hollow is pleased to partner with the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge on this exciting family program. A Don Edwards SF Bay NWR Interpretive Specialist will present an interactive discussion on local bird habitats and adaptations, provide you with the basics on how to conduct a successful bird-watching session, and guide you on a bird-watching tour through Happy Hollow. Class fee is for 1 child and 1 adult. Each additional participant is an additional fee. 
 

Backyard Birds

A lot of different birds make their homes in our backyards and even at Happy Hollow! Come find out what wild birds live at Happy Hollow. Make your very own bird book to help you identify your local species and go on a guided bird watching tour.

Family Sleepover

Be our guest for a wild sleepover and enjoy the thrill of the zoo after dark. Your family will participate in animal encounters, hands-on activities, games, crafts, and behind-the-scenes tours. Your adventure includes a late-night snack and breakfast the next morning. You can choose between tent camping in the Crooked House Meadow or sleeping in the Learning LODGE. 
 

Animals of the Night

Venture into the dark and mysterious world of nocturnal animals. Discover the special adaptations they need to look for shelter, hunt for food, and avoid being hunted! Test your nocturnal skills and see what Happy Hollow’s nocturnal animals do at the zoo at night!
