SUMMER ZOO CAMP 2014

Go wild this summer at Happy Hollow Zoo Camp! Each unique camp topic provides interactive learning experiences, hands-on science-based activities, zoo tours, and the opportunity to meet live animals up close!

Summer Camps at Happy Hollow will provide your child with life-long memories. Each topic focuses on different themes and incorporates a variety of age-appropriate conservation messaging and activities. Children attend camps independently without parents/guardians and should be comfortable in a group setting.

While our younger campers will enjoy half day sessions, our older campers may join us for half or full day camps. Campers attending both morning and afternoon sessions will be provided with a supervised lunch hour at no additional cost. All campers should bring water bottles and snacks. Campers enrolled in full day camps may bring their own lunch or purchase boxed lunches ahead of time. Each camper will receive one camp shirt per week of camp. Additional t-shirts are available for purchase at the time of registration.

Drop off for morning camps is from 8:45-9:00am. Pick up for morning camps is at 12:00pm. Drop off for afternoon camps is from 12:45-1:00pm. Pick up for afternoon camps is at 4:00pm. Campers must be signed in and out of camp with a Camp Instructor each day for your child’s safety. Early drop offs or late pick ups are not permitted.

Non-Members: $255 half day / $355 full day
Members: $229.50 half day / $329.50 full day
Boxed Lunches: $40 per week
Additional T-Shirts: $20 per shirt

CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Diggin’ Dinos (ages 4-6)
Become a paleontologist and discover the wonderful world of dinosaurs! We’ll dig our way back through time to learn about these ancient animals, explore theories about their extinction, and meet some of their modern day relatives.

Fairytales & Fables (ages 4-6)
Is the Big Bad Wolf real or just pretend? Who would win the real-life race between the Tortoise and the Hare? Travel through the pages of animal-themed fairytales and fables and learn whether some of our favorite fairytales, fables, and stories were concocted from fact or fiction.

Wild Wild West (ages 4-6)
Take a journey from city sidewalks to dusty trails! In this camp, little buckaroos will uncover the lives of cowboys from around the world. We’ll also learn how to groom horses, herd goats, and toss lassos!

Animal Arts (ages 7-8)
Combine your love for animals with a passion of creativity and join us for this unique camp exploring both worlds. We will learn about animals, different artistic techniques, and what happens then the two collide!

Do you want to work at the zoo? Here’s your chance to see what it’s like! This camp will introduce you to all the things you need to know about zookeeping. Join us on an adventure while we learn about zoo animals, go on behind-the-scenes tours, clean small animal enclosures, and even get a chance to perform Meet & Greets at Critter Corner!

Zoo Vets (ages 11-13)
Considering a career in veterinary medicine? Vets can specialize in more than just cats and dogs. Join us as we dive into an intensive week learning about various animal species, discovering diagnostic tools, studying symptoms, and even practice treatments just like our zoo veterinarians do!

SUMMER FAMILY SLEEPOVER (ages 5+ with an adult)
July 12th at 6:00pm to July 13th at 10:00am
Be our guest for a wild sleepover and enjoy the thrill of the zoo after dark!
Join us for an animal extravaganza! Your family will enjoy live animal encounters, hands-on activities, games, crafts, and a flashlight tour through the zoo while discovering the amazing world of animals! Learn about animal adaptations and how they help them to survive in different habitats.

You can choose between tent camping in the Crooked House Meadow or sleeping in the indoor Learning LODGE. Indoor sleeping is limited and must be requested at the time of registration by contacting the Education Department. You may bring a picnic dinner to enjoy in the Crooked House Meadow before the festivities begin. This adventure includes a late night snack and breakfast the next morning.
